On feeling bluesy…

Feeling a bit down this morning. Just a bit. My visit back home in Michigan was too short. My girls are already back at work this morning miles and miles away. Sam had the audacity to go to work as well. Samuel is sleeping a bit later to get back on west coast time. Shameful. 🙂

Feeling very blessed this morning. Tremendously. We had a nontraditional (for us) Christmas this year. We opened gifts and celebrated Christmas eve. It was relaxing, fun and perfectly lovely. Then we left early Christmas morning for Michigan. Our visit in Michigan was wonderful. It was great to see my Mom and Dad. We were served a delicious homemade dinner upon arrival from our travels-compliments of my sister-in-law and brother. We fixed wonderful food the next few days including traditional homemade cinnamon rolls (Ariana’s specialty), a sumptuous prime rib dinner, Sam’s bacon!, we went to see a fun movie (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty), we cleaned and organized and enjoyed every minute of it, we walked in the snow by the river, we laughed a lot, we cried (we cry over everything, sometimes while laughing – it’s all good). Too short.

Next stop, Indianapolis. We had a visit (too short again) with some dear friends. Kindred spirits.  We attended the wedding of the daughter of some other dear friends. The bride wore a haute couture dress made by her Mom. It involved over 1400 pieces of fabric. The wedding cake was delicious. And decorated in camo & orange. Not traditional, but very artistic! (sorry, no pics)

“We” are back home now. Only “home” is not all in the same place. Our new normal. Our kids are all adults now. Time all together is so precious. In 6 days we will put Samuel on Alaska Air nonstop back to Seattle. That will be bluesy day 2.
